Looking for a family photographer in Hong Kong who actually connects with kids?
Sessions are relaxed, fast-moving, and genuinely fun, even dads enjoy them.
For nearly 20 years, I’ve specialised in natural, candid family photography in Hong Kong, with a focus on children. Because photographing kids isn’t the same as photographing adults — and it shows.
No stiff poses. No “say cheese.” Just your family, being yourselves.
Whether you want an iconic Hong Kong backdrop or a quieter, off-the-beaten-path location, I know exactly where and when to shoot for the best light and least crowds.
From toddlers who won’t sit still to teenagers who’d rather be anywhere else, I know how to get real expressions, not forced smiles.
Also available: multi-generational and extended family sessions when everyone is in town..
Custom family photo albums included with all regular sessions — no upsell, no extras

Hong Kong Kids Photography FAQ
Where can we do our Hong Kong family photo shoot?
Anywhere in Hong Kong, parks, harbourfront, your neighbourhood, Stanley, Sai Kung, Discovery Bay, Kowloon, or somewhere meaningful to your family.

I also offer hybrid Home Studio + Location sessions for families who want a mix of indoor and outdoor portraits. Perfect for those busy Sunday afternoons when it’s packed everywhere in HK and it’s difficult to do a classic Hong Kong style photoshoot.
When is the best time to book a kids portrait session in Hong Kong?
Now families often wait until kids are older, but the toddler and early childhood years go fast, and they're some of the most rewarding to photograph. There's no perfect moment.
The perfect moment was probably in the past!
How do you get natural, unposed results from children who won't cooperate?
My approach is simple: give kids something real to do and let the expression follow. No "Say Cheese", ever. At a beach session that might be skipping stones or being spun by a parent. At a park, following a koi fish or crouching down to look at something in the grass. Real activity produces real expressions. My job is to be ready for that moment. Yours is to play with your kids and trust that I'll take care of the rest.
Can you photograph teenagers who hate having their photo taken?
Teenagers are actually some of my favourite subjects, partly because getting a genuine expression from a reluctant 14-year-old is a real challenge, and I'm good at it. I don't push, I don't pose, and I don't make it weird. Give me twenty minutes with a skeptical teen and I'll have something they'd actually want on their own wall and share with their friends.
What should we wear?
Keep it simple and comfortable, clothes your kids will actually move in. Think coordinated over perfectly matching.
Here is my guide on What to Wear for Family Photos in Hong Kong (and What to Avoid)
Can we include the family pet(s)?
Absolutely! Pets are family, but they aren’t allowed in some of the public places where family photo shoots are popular in Hong Kong. I have some great ideas about how to accomplish this and get some nice stand-alone portraits of your dog and/or cat along the way.
Why do you call yourself a “kids portrait photographer” rather than a “family photographer”?
Because that's what I actually am. From 2007 to 2018 I never showed a family portrait on my website, never used the word "family" anywhere. Of course every session included the family photo for the wall and the holiday card, but my real focus was always the kids. Getting a portrait where a parent looks at it and says "that's soooo her!" That's what I was after. Around a quarter of my sessions back then were kids only, parents would come along and deliberately stay out of frame. (Or send the kids with the helper.) They didn't want a family portrait. They wanted portraits of their children.
By 2016 that approach had built me 100,000+ followers on Facebook, people stopping to look at photos of kids that actually looked like kids.
The industry moved toward styled, posed "family photography" and I didn't move with it. That's not a criticism of anyone, it's just not what I do best.
Trusted by Hong Kong’s Leading International Schools
My documentary approach to international school photography has made me the photographer of choice for Hong Kong’s most prestigious educational institutions. For twenty years, I have been commissioned by schools including CDNIS, CIS, HKIS, HKA, and many more to lead professional photography sessions that capture the authentic spirit of their campuses.
I bring the same 'Kids Being Kids' philosophy to these large-scale environments as I do to my private family photography work, ensuring every frame feels natural, unscripted, and true to the school's identity.

Documenting Children From Childhood to Graduation
"I don't just document an hour at the beach; I capture a Family Legacy from toddler to teen."
I first met this family at a Montessori school on Hong Kong Island. As their lifestyle photographer, I’ve followed their children through Hong Kong, Singapore, and London, including sessions at Stanley, Repulse Bay, and the Star Ferry.
My work focuses on natural, candid children’s photography over time — not one-off sessions. Many families I photograph return year after year as their children grow.
